Full Roof Structure & Sheeting Installation – 12,900 m² | Coordination, Delivery & Client Relationship Management

The Brief
A 12,900 m² roofing package delivered through strong sales leadership, clear communication, and disciplined coordination formed the core of our work on the Dannhauser Community Health Centre in KwaZulu-Natal. This multi-building healthcare development was built by GVK–Siya Zama, and our company was appointed through a competitive tender process to supply, manufacture, and install the full timber roof structure, insulation, and concealed-fix sheeting for the entire facility.
My role in this project focused heavily on sales leadership, client communication, and end-to-end coordination. As a result, every stage of the process, from design revisions to delivery sequencing, moved forward smoothly and professionally.
This project demonstrates how strong customer relationships, clear communication, and structured follow-through can transform a complex and technical scope into a well-managed, successful installation.
Sales Leadership & Securing the Contract
We secured the tender through competitive pricing and a strong working relationship with the GVK–Siya Zama team. My responsibilities included:
• Presenting our capabilities professionally
• Managing all communication with the main contractor
• Building trust through responsiveness and clarity
• Positioning our team as a reliable partner for a project of this scale
This project later led to additional negotiated work, mainly because the contractor gained confidence in our consistent delivery and professional relationship management.
Client Communication & Project Coordination
Once the contract was awarded, I managed the entire flow of information between:
• Our design and production teams
• Mechanical, electrical, and fire engineers
• The architect and principal agent
• GVK–Siya Zama’s site and contracts managers
• The installation subcontractors
I acted as the central point of communication. Therefore:
• All drawing revisions were properly captured and communicated
• Manufacturing always aligned with the latest requirements
• Deliveries followed the correct sequencing for each building
• Challenges were addressed quickly to avoid delays
My goal was simple, yet essential: keep everyone moving, keep everyone communicating, and keep the project firmly on track.

Scope Delivered
Although late design changes occurred and several buildings progressed at different speeds, we successfully delivered the full roofing package, which included:
• 12,900 m² of engineered timber roof structures
• All purlins, wall plates, fascia, and barge boards
• Full structural bracing
• Insulation across all buildings
• A complete concealed-fix sheeting system
• All flashings and finishing components
• On-site installation management
One of the key challenges involved maintaining zero colour variation across the entire roof. We achieved this by procuring the full coil batch upfront and coordinating rolling in controlled phases.
Challenges Managed
• Late changes from HVAC, fire, and electrical teams
• Sequencing across multiple buildings
• Strict colour-matching requirements for roof sheets
• Working at height with zero safety incidents
• Maintaining production and delivery flow under pressure
